First Class Room 9: 1916 Photograph Enquiry

Today Room 9 were investigating photographs from one hundred years ago during history. We looked at pictures of Ireland during the 1916 rising to see what the city was like during this difficult time in our country. We saw the General Post Office (GPO) where the Proclamation was read aloud, Nelson’s Pillar and Sackville Street (now known as O’Connell Street). For more information on the 1916 Easter Rising please click here. We are currently working on our Proclamation for 2016 which we we present to you using video. For photos please click here....

Senior Infants Room 7: Time

We can tell the time! We played time Bingo and created our own clocks on paper plates. We had great fun playing What Time is it Mr Wolf in PE. Have a listen to the song, Hickory Dickory Dock, we love the end when the elephant comes...

Junior Infants Room 2: Parents, Grandparents and Pancakes!

What a busy fortnight Room 2 have had! They have been having so much fun playing maths games with the parents as part of Maths 4 Fun, and really enjoyed their grandparents’ visit to the school as part of Grandparents day. Room 2 are a very kind and thoughtful class, and decided to make a video of themselves performing their grandparents poem for all the grandparents who couldn’t make it in to visit them- please click here to view it! They were also very kind to the elves in the story of the ‘Elves and the Shoemaker’, and made them amazing little gifts out of different materials- an elf car, helicopter, skateboard, and lots of little hats and jumpers! They celebrated Pancake Tuesday this week and really enjoyed chatting to their friends about what toppings they like best on their pancakes. One of their favourite songs  at the minute is How’s The Weather? and they are currently learning how to do a weather report as Gaeilge! Tá an lá fuair (cold), te (hot), fliuch (wet), tirim (dry)! For more photos of them at work (and play!) please see here 🙂...

Senior Infants Room 7: The Post Office

We had so much fun going to the post office! We saw where you go to buy stamps and how to weigh parcels. The manager of the post office even gave us a lollipop. We loved going on the secret mission into the security room and seeing the cameras and we even got teddy bears. We must be the luckiest senior infants ever! Take a look at photos of our trip here....

Senior Infants Room 4: Special Visitors

The children in Room 4 were very excited about the special visitors that came to our classroom on Wednesday. We were very lucky to welcome several grandparents as part of our Grandparent’s Day celebrations.  We had written some questions to ask the grandparents – we asked them what they ate for lunch in school, did they have computers, what was their teacher’s name and did they have lettuce when they were small. It was lovely to see the bridging of generations in the classroom. We sang an Irish song and said a poem for all of the grandparents at the end of their visit. We hope they enjoyed the morning as much as we did! A very big thank you to all of our visiting grandparents.   Please click here to see some more...

Senior Infants Room 7: Grandparent’s Day

We really enjoyed Grandparent’s Day yesterday. It was great hearing about what school, toys and TV used to be like. Our favorite thing about Grandparent’s Day was hearing about watching Neil Armstrong land on the moon. A special thank you to all the Grandparents who were able to come into our class. We hope the grandparents who couldn’t make it enjoyed the day...
