Erection of Discovery Primary Science Award in the School foyer at 09:30

The teaching and learning of science, technology and mathematics is of paramount importance in Citywest & Saggart CNS and the innovative, child-centred teaching approaches in these areas have been recognised by the Science Foundation of Ireland (SFI). In June 2015 the SFI awarded Citywest & Saggart CNS a Discover Primary Science Plaque of Excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. On Thursday 8th October 2015 at 9 a.m. we will be erecting our plaque from the SFI in our school foyer.

As the lobby is small and for health and safety reasons, we will only be in a position to allow a limited number of parents inside. We will do our best to accommodate as many people as possible. If you are unable to attend, please note that this plaque will be available for viewing at any time in the lobby once erected. Teas and coffee will be served in foyer afterwards.

The chairperson of the Parent’s Association, Mrs. Allison Carter, will also be in attendance. Allison and her team of dedicated parents work tirelessly for the school to raise money through the organisation of a variety of events and functions. Some of the funds that the Parent’s Association raised last year have been used to buy science equipment for the school. Without their diligent efforts and commitment this would not have been possible and we would like to thank Allison and her team formally on Thursday. We are very pleased with the plaque and look forward to continue to develop our teaching in these areas so that the children will continue to experience the very best education in terms of science, technology and mathematics education in our school.
