Principal: Look Out for our Cyclists

Hi all

I am delighted with the increase in people walking, scooting and cycling to school. What a great way to start the day! We are hoping to get more bike racks in soon so that they can be parked safely during the day.

cycling to school

If you are driving to school, please be very mindful of the children who are cycling. It is now illegal for cyclists to cycle on footpaths and no exceptions have been made for young children, therefore the road must be shared. A particularly busy spot is on Garter’s Lane running along the entrance to Citywest Hotel. There are children from 3 different primary schools using this road so please make sure that you slow down make a safe distance between them and your car. There is currently a nationwide campaign to legalise a safe 1.5m overtaking distance.

Please continue to use more active ways of coming to school!

Many thanks for your co-operation in this matter. I am sure that everyone will put the safety of all children first.
