Senior Infants Room 5: World Book Day

We had great fun on World Book Day. Everyone looked great dressed up as their favourite character from a book. Some of the characters included Snow White, the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, the Scarecrow from The Wizard of OZ, Harry Potter and Hansel and Gretel. Even the teachers dressed up! We were very lucky to have some Mums come in and read to us. We also had a chance to pick some of our favourite books and read them during the day. Thank you so much to our reading volunteers. It was fantastic to look around the classroom and see the children listening intently to the stories. Please click here to see some more photos of World Book...

Senior Infants Room 5: The Telephone

In Room 5 today we were talking about the telephone. We learnt that the telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell. The first phone call ever made was made by Alexander to his assistant who was in the room next door! We made our own telephones using paper cups, string and sellotape. We discovered that we could hear our elbow buddy better when the string was pulled tight. We had telephone conversations sitting down, standing up, under the table and far away from our elbow buddy. Senior Infants Room 5: Pancake Tuesday

We had such a busy day making pancakes today! We all went to the staff room, even Barnaby Bear came along. Keep an eye out for him in some of the photos! Ms Harney asked us if we could name any of the ingredients needed to make pancakes. We learnt that you need flour, eggs and milk to make pancake batter. Ms Harney showed us how to pour the batter onto the hot plate and make a circle. It was tricky to flip the pancakes! We picked our own toppings. We could pick raspberry jam, banana or sugar. Most boys and girls picked sugar. Please click here to see some more...

Senior Infants Room 5: Maths 4 Fun Week 3

Thank you so much to all of the parents who helped out this week. We had a great time playing all of our Maths games. We especially enjoyed Monster Bingo where we practised naming our shapes and colours and the Treasure Hunt game. Sometimes we get extra coins when we take them from other players and sometimes a monkey steals our coins and we have to put some coins back into the treasure chest! It’s hard to believe that next week is our final week of Maths 4 Fun. Please click here to see some more photographs of our exciting...

Senior Infants Room 5: History with Julia’s Mum

We had a very special visitor today. Julia’s Mum came in to tell us all about when she was small. She showed us some games that she played – badminton, skipping and making shapes with string. She also showed us how she used a piece of elastic to make a jumping game. There was no Internet or mobile phones when Julia’s mum was growing up. She played lots of games with her friends outside. We asked her some questions about the weather in Poland, what school was like and if she had any pets. We really enjoyed listening to Julia’s Mum. We learnt so much and we had great fun trying out some of the games. Thank you Anna! Please click here to see some more...

Senior Infants Room 5: Maths 4 Fun Week 2

Another very successful Maths 4 Fun! We welcomed some more parents into our classroom for our second week of Maths 4 Fun. This week we played some games with the parents and we also played some games with our friends. We especially enjoyed Monster Bingo which helps us to revise our shapes and colours. A sincere thank you to all of the parents who helped make our morning so much fun. Please click here to see some more photos of our busy...
