Third Class Room 6: Kindness Week

This week is Kindness Week in Citywest and Saggart CNS. The children are learning about the importance of being kind to others and to themselves. Today in 3rd class, we focused on using kind words to describe each other. We used words such as resilient, remarkable, unique, and creative. Have a look at the words that our friends used to describe us! We stuck them to our heads!...

Junior Infants Room 5: The School

Room 5 have been enjoying our new topic – The School! The role play area has been a particular favourite in this topic, with the children role playing different members of school staff (Miss Mahon has been very impressed with our impressions). Below you can see some children role playing taking the rolla and doing a fire drill.   We have been building schools using our giant Lego: We have also been exploring patterns in Maths. We used our new learning to create colourful patterned new school jumpers. I wonder if Ms Doherty would like them?   In Geography we have been discussing the different spaces in our school and what they are used for. We even had a go at creating maps of the P.E. hall. During SPHE time we have spent a lot of time thinking about friendship and how important it is. We have opened up about our feelings when we have no one to play with. It sure can be lonely. We don’t want anyone in our class to feel sad so we are making sure that we are all good friends and that no one gets left behind in the playground. Miss Mahon thinks we are all fantastic at being good friends....

Senior Infants Room 7: Trip to the Post Office

Senior Infants Room 7: Trip to the Post Office

Room 7 have been busy bees learning all about the Post Office this month. We have learned about the people who work in the Post Office and we have been using lots of new vocabulary in the role-play centre like parcel, letter, stamp, envelope, first class, air mail, cashier, address and postman. We have learned to weigh parcels and letters to ensure the correct stamp is given and we learned a new rhyme called ‘The Postman’! In addition, we have really enjoyed reading a story about the Jolly Postman. The Jolly Postman had a busy job delivering letters to lots of our favourite story characters – Cinderella, Goldilocks, the Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood. We liked this story so much that we decided to write our own letters and postcards. Then we were lucky enough to get the chance to visit the Post Office in Citywest Shopping Centre to post the letters we carefully wrote. We can’t wait until they arrive! Have a look at some pictures we took...
