Senior Infants Room 5: Our First Book

What a busy week! We have been working so hard to finish our very first books. We remembered that we need a character, a setting and a beginning, middle and end in our story. Room 5 was a hive of industry as we wrote our stories and illustrated our books. Mr Kinsella heard about our books and he was so impressed that he invited us into Room 7 tomorrow to read to the children in First Class. We can’t wait to read our stories and show everyone in First Class our very first books. Please click here to see some more...

Senior Infants Room 5: Active Week

Room 5 were so busy during Active Week. On Monday we practised for the running race and potato and spoon race. On Tuesday we had a special visitor – Martin from Tallaght Martial Arts. He showed us how to warm up properly and you can see our amazing moves in the gallery. We had our Sports Day on Wednesday, it was so much fun. We loved the parachute and the limbo game. On Thursday we played outside. We were in four different teams and we worked together to build a Lego man, tried to knock down skittles, threw beanbags into a hoop and negotiated an obstacle course. Finally, on Friday we had another special visitor – Melissa from Citywest Ballet Studio. Mel taught us a dance routine to some jazz music. Wow, what an active...

Senior Infants Room 5: What a Difference a Year Makes!

It was Intercultural Day in Citywest & Saggart CNS today. Each child completed a project on a country of their choice and during the week we learnt some fun facts about countries including Spain, France, Russia, Egypt and Poland. We learnt how to say hello, goodbye and thank you in French, Spanish and Russian. Some of the children dressed up and everyone looked very smart. Please click here to see how much the children have changed since Intercultural Day last year in Junior...

Senior Infants Room 5: Our Teeth

We had some very special visitors today – Yvonne the dental nurse and Rocky the Croc. Yvonne showed us how to brush our teeth. Did you know that you only need to use a tiny bit of toothpaste? It should be the same size as a pea! It is important to brush our teeth properly – don’t forget about the teeth at the back!   Ms Harney gave us a brushing chart. We need to colour in the star when we brush our teeth. Yvonne said she would come back soon and give us a reward if we have been brushing our teeth in the morning and at night. Happy brushing! Senior Infants: Mechanical Engineers

Does anyone know what a mechanical engineer does? The children in Senior Infants could tell you. Last week Michael and Alan visited the school to tell us all about the different things that a mechanical engineer does. They spoke to us about robots, jets, roller coasters and cars. We learnt that mechanical engineers work in lots of different places including racing tracks, factories and offices. Mechanical engineers have helped to make some of the most amazing projects in the world like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the world’s tallest building in Dubai and the world’s fastest roller coaster in New Jersey. Thank you so much to Michael and Alan who gave a wonderful presentation. Please click here to see some more...
