Senior Infants Room 4: The boy who cried wolf

This week we heard the story of the boy who cried wolf. We found some pictures of the story but they were all mixed up! We worked with our elbow buddy to put the pictures in the right order. Please look at our pictures outside the classroom.   Ms Harney recorded some of us re-telling the story. Here are some of these stories: https://cscns.ie/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/VOICE004.mp3 https://cscns.ie/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/VOICE003.mp3 https://cscns.ie/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/VOICE002.mp3 Please click here to see more...

Junior Infants Room 2: A Busy Week!

Room 2 have had a very busy week, singing their hearts out in preparation for their Welcoming Ceremony, making lovely Diwali candles for Inter-Belief Week at Citywest & Saggart CNS, and exploring the theme of ‘The Pet Shop’. They sorted out  animals at the Pet Shop, selected their favourite one, and played ‘shop keeper’ and ‘customer’ with their 1 , 2 and 5 cent coins. They made wonderful Gruffalo puppets with fabric and fiber materials, sang and acted out Baa Baa Black Sheep and sorted his bags of wool for him. Room 2 are getting really good at comparing sets to see which has more and which has less, and figuring out what needs to be done to make them the same. Well done Room 2 on another busy but brilliant week, and a huge thanks to all those who made it to the Welcoming Ceremony. For more photos of their busy week please...

Senior Infants Room 4: Drippy the Raindrop

We have been learning about Drippy the Raindrop. He started off relaxing in the sea but it got too hot and he evaporated up into the clouds. The cloud became too full and Drippy fell out of the cloud. He landed in a stream. He floated down the stream which became a river and the river led to the sea. The whole cycle starts all over again! Ask us about Drippy the Raindrop’s journey. Please click here to see our lovely water cycle pictures....

Junior Infants Room 2: Super Scientists!

Room 2 became Super Scientists this week in school! On Monday they were paid a visit by Scientists David and John (and a VERY BIG spider and scorpion!) who did lots of great experiments with them, and showed them how sugary foods and drinks like coke can stain our teeth unless we brush them well. Room 2 are learning all about living things at the moment, and are getting really good at knowing how to tell if something is living or not living- does it breath, move, grow, eat and drink, have babies or respond to the weather? They are also learning how to care for living things, and planted Hyacinths this week which they hope will grow over the next few weeks if they give them plenty of water and sunlight. They also experimented with balloons, and learnt how to charge up their balloons with electricity so they could pick up all the lovely materials Vinny left for them as a surprise! Well done Room 2 on all the great learning you did over Science Week 🙂 For more photos of the Super Scientists in Room 2 please click...
