Junior Infants Room 2: Human Rights Month

Last Friday, the children in room 2 joined all of the children in the school for a human rights assembly during which the children shared their work from the past month. The children in junior infants learned a lot about gender equality at an age appropriate level reading the stories My Princess Boy and Princess Smartypants. After reading the stories, the children engaged in discussion around boys and girls clothes, and came to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter what they wear and that every boy and girl is free to choose to wear whatever they would like to wear without worrying about what others might say. Have a look at their display hanging in the PE...

Senior Infants Room 5: World Book Day

We had great fun on World Book Day. Everyone looked great dressed up as their favourite character from a book. Some of the characters included Snow White, the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, the Scarecrow from The Wizard of OZ, Harry Potter and Hansel and Gretel. Even the teachers dressed up! We were very lucky to have some Mums come in and read to us. We also had a chance to pick some of our favourite books and read them during the day. Thank you so much to our reading volunteers. It was fantastic to look around the classroom and see the children listening intently to the stories. Please click here to see some more photos of World Book...

Junior Infants Room 3: Read Aloud by Lorraine

The boys and girls in Room 3 are having a wonderful time this week!  Grace’s Mom, Lorraine, called in yesterday morning to read them a story for Literacy Week.  They were very excited to hear ‘Room on the Broom’  being read aloud, especially those who had heard it before.  They enjoyed seeing all of the animals join the witch on the broom and were delighted when they saved her at the end of the story.  Thank you...

Senior Infants Room 4: The Vet

Over the last few weeks Room 4 has learned a huge amount about the vet. We have had the vet as our role play area during play time and have been really busy looking after all the animals and making sure they all make a speedy recovery. We had lots of fun taking the roles of the vet, the vet’s assistant, the receptionist and the pet owner’s. Some of us would like to be a vet when we are...
