Principal: Our Wonderful Parent Association

We are so fortunate in Citywest & Saggart CNS to have a truly amazing Parent Association. They work tirelessly to make sure that our children receive the best education possible. I was delighted to received a cheque this morning for over €3000 which will go directly towards science and IT equipment which the school needs in order to achieve our aim of providing a progressive and innovative education to our children. I hope you all have a fantastic summer and I look forward to seeing you all again in September. I am particularly excited to welcome our new families to the school in a few months. From the meetings so far with them, I have no doubt that their contribution to the school will be fantastic....

Senior Infants Room 5: Sponsored Walk

This week is Active Week in Citywest & Saggart CNS. Room 5 really enjoyed all of the activities and today is only Monday! 13 of the children walked, cycled or came to school on their scooters this morning. Well done everyone! We played with some of the P.E equipment during lunch, we did the chicken dance after second break and we even managed to to practise for our Sports Day on Wednesday. What an active day! Principal: School Self-Evaluation Survey

Hi all Earlier today I emailed out our School Self-Evaluation Survey to our parents. The response so far has been fantastic! I’m not just saying that all the responses are positive, I’m saying that they are fantastic in that they are really useful in terms of helping us to continue developing and improving! The honest answers in the “This school would be better if….” section is proving really informative. If you have not done so already, please check your email and click on the link for the survey. It should only take a couple of minutes. We will be having a staff meeting at the end of next week where we will analyse the results of the survey. This will be hugely helpful for us as a staff to decide on priority areas which need attention. Your perspective is so important to us. It’s also great to know for sure what is working really well. I am sure any parent in the school knows that we have an incredibly dedicated, enthusiastic and committed staff. The positive responses to this survey are really affirming and motivating also. Thanks to those of you who have filled it out already and we are looking forward to reading the responses yet to come. Please be reassured that the survey is completely anonymous and there is no way anyone will know which parent said what. Séamus...

Principal: Communicating with Parents

Communicating effectively with our current and future parents is really important to ensure that the school runs as smoothly as possible. Communication is a two-way process and more importantly again is that parents are able to communicate effectively with us. We are currently looking at ways of improving the communication processes in the school. Many thanks to the parents who have returned their email addresses to the school so far. Please continue to return them this week. We are really excited about the potential email communication has on reducing the amount of paper used by the school and by increasing the amount of responses we get to our notes home. In the coming weeks, we will be sending you out a survey as part of our ongoing commitment to constantly evaluating ourselves on how we are doing as a school. We do this in many ways. We have a lot of staff meetings where we look at different aspects of the school and see how we can improve. However, it is really important that we hear from parents how they find different aspects of the school. Your responses to this survey will be really important in helping us to write our School Improvement Plan for next year. I will be sending out a link to the survey by email very soon. Please be reassured that all responses are completely anonymous so teachers will not be able to tell which parent said what. Your honesty and considered response is really important here. If you or any parent you know does not have access to a smartphone that can download the new school...
